If you are planning on traveling further than just Tijuana or Bahamar into south Baja, then think about crossing the border at Tecate. It's so much easier than the Tijuana border crossing, with very little traffic at the border and much less hassle. We use this border crossing whenever we drive through down to Loreto or onto Cabo San Lucas. If you have an RV or any vehicle large than a trucker or minivan, they will search your car going into and out of Mexico, but it's just standard procedure. Give yourself about and half hour to and hour to get into Mexico and about 1 hour or more to cross out of the country, depending on the time of day or night you cross back into the U.S. I do not recommend cross out of the country after 5 pm if you are hoping to be over to border within an hour, it can get really congested.
